I know that the plaid is gonna be out of fashion very soon, so I was enjoying its very last days this season.
The pictures (apart of being just bad quality) are in typical spirit of Balmoralism, which was transfering the Scottish Highlands culture over the country as a whole, no matter how alien to the rest of the country it was, without acknowledgement of Lowlands’ own culture. Hence here I am, in a tartan skirt with Arthur’s Seat (Edinburgh) as a background, merging Highlands and Lowlands into one and the same.
Unfortunately, I am not the only one. Most of the Scots these days wear a kilt and drink Highland whisky with a great number of them having Gaelic names. Not that I don’t like men in kilts, I actually adore them (especially those who go 'true Scotsman’) and the whole Highland thing is very cute. I am just fully aware it’s absolutely artificial.
/To trochę tak, jakby wszyscy Polacy zaczęli uważać, że są z Podhala/
Just for the pure joy of it – Scottish (kind of) national anthem. They don’t have one officialy, but this is the song they regard as such. And yes, I know it by heart 😛
